There is no single form or style of portraiture. Portraiture means individualism and as such means diversity, self-expression, private point of view. The most successful images seem to be those which exist on several planes at once and which reflect the fantasy and understanding of many. - Peter Bunnell

I enjoyed studying portraiture in college and my 5 years working for a national portrait studio. I learned a lot about posing and lighting, but most of all I learned when to toss all that out and just photograph the person. I find most people like seeing themselves in pictures as much as hearing their own voice on a voicemail! That's why I strive to make every shoot casual and painless... and somehow along the way I find portraits are made that most people find themselves feeling really good about.
